EAST ASIA JOURNAL Studies in Material Culture

East Asia Journal: Studies in Material Culture takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of material culture in East Asia -- China, Japan and Korea -- as well as the countries of the Southeast Asian region

Table of Contents pdf Table of Contents pdf

Published twice a year and independently refereed, East Asia Journal draws strength from a wide range of disciplines, such as archaeology, anthropology, history of technology, art and architecture, and literary studies, with the focus on ‘objects’ -- their making, use and history and the interpretations given to them and on ‘materials’ used to make them.

East Asia Journal also welcomes any methodological contributions to the study of material culture in general.

The journal welcomes contributions on all aspects of the material cultures of East Asia on the clear understanding that authors who submit such materials have not published the texts elsewhere, including the Web, or submitted the materials simultaneously to another publication, including online publication.

Pleaste note: Authors who knowingly submit published materials to the journal can be liable for prosecution in a court of law and payment of damages, which can be substantial. This may read as an unpleasant bit of text, but it is designed to protect all parties concerned, including the author!

Authors who wish to have their work published in the Journal, in the first instance, should send a proposal with a short abstract addressed to:
