New Paintings by Fu Hua, the 'Master Artist'

The Mall Galleries, The Mall, London, SW1

16-28 October, 2006 |10 am – 5 pm daily

Chinese artist Fu Hua, 80, for many years a resident of the UK, will show his latest paintings at The Mall Galleries, The Mall, London, from 16 to 28 October. Fu Hua now lives in Australia with Dorothy Savage, his longtime companion. They married recently.

The artist's last exhibition at the Shanghai Institute of Chinese Traditional Painting in January this year was very well received. More than 3,000 people attended the opening despite sub-zero temperatures. Many of his patrons and friends travelled great distances to attend the party.

The show featured Fu Hua's paintings spanning half a century. His work over the past 16 years has been marked by innovative paintings that have touched upon subjects usually dealt with by Chinese artists painting in the traditionalist style. The latest work has been influenced by Fu Hua's recent fascination with opals.
