Free Range 2008 is promised to be eight weeks of exhibitiions -- about 60 in all -- with 3000 graduate artists from 45 colleges taking part. Housed in Brick Lane’s Old Truman Brewery, Free Range 2008 usesl 400,000 square feet of dedicated exhibition space to showcase the very latest in British design, photography, art, and interiors. Now in its eighth year, Free Range last year had 150,000 visitors.
Participating art colleges include those from Brighton, Bournemouth, Nottingham, Manchester, Reading, and London. Colleges create their own tailor-made exhibitions as part of Free Range which rotate weekly over an eight-week period in several locations. Disciplines include graphics, illustration, printmaking, product design and textiles. According to Free Range Director Tamsin O’Hanlon the event "is an unprecedented display of youth, art and creativity. Its vast scale, variety and location set it apart from other more parochial student art events."
