Sexual Culture Museum opens in ShanghaiLiu Dalin, a 67-year-old retired sociology professor, is the founder of a Sexual Culture Museum which opened in Shanghai on Sept. 2. The museum features about 1,200 antique sex toys, fertility idols, porcelain copulating animals and erotic paintings from China, Japan, South and Southeast Asia as well as other parts of the world. Liu started collecting in 1989, three years before retiring from Shanghai University, and his hoard now spans almost 6,000 years. However, the museum is getting only about 50 visitors a day, partly because of the high (50-yuan/about $6) admission fee and partly because of public diffidence, and Liu's wife is worried that he has spent too much money.
