Focus on South Asian Art |
||||||||||||||||||||||
|
South Asian ArtSouth Asia means Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka but also encompasses, at least for the purposes of this page on Eastern Art Report Online, the island states of Mauritius and the Maldives. Eastern Art Report covers both the traditional and contemporary aspects of South Asian arts. But the scene is complex, multi-faceted and often defies definition. South Asia being a melting-pot of cultures and civilisations, many aspects of its art scene are likely to be glimpsed elsewhere, i e in pages on Islamic art or Buddhist art, even contemporary European art. To examine EAR Online contents for aspects of South Asian art click any of the topics on the Menu Bar (left) or or the vertical Choice List (below), or go to If not satisfied by the results, e-mail EAR.
